Choosing Argus or ReferralNet for your account

In order to use secure messaging both the sender and receiver are required to use the same messaging provider. By signing up for both Referralnet and Argus, this increases your ability to send messages securely.

How to connect your Argus account with your HealthKit

Connecting your HealthKit with your Argus account

You can sign up to Argus and link your Argus account to your HealthKit in the following way:

  1. Go to the Settings page under the Profile tab in your HealthKit;
  2. Click the Edit icon next to Argus under Integrations;
  3. If you have an existing account, click Yes, enter your Username and Password and click Save. If no, contact our support line on 1800 984 334 or email us community@healthkit.com.au to obtain a promotional code. Then click the link which takes you to the Argus page to register;
  4. You will need to wait for approval from Argus, which can take up to three or four days. Contact Argus to let them know you have registered;
  5. When the account is enabled, the status changes from Waiting approval to Active; and
  6. You now need to connect your Argus account and HealthKit. Click the Edit icon next to Argus and enter your Username and Password. Then click Save.

The Validate login button confirms if you have the correct Username and Password and are able to start using Argus.

Setting up your individual account

If you are part of a group practice and you have entered your group username and password, click the Edit icon and confirm that you have an existing account. Then enter the same Username and Password that was used to register the group. This can be used for each practitioner.


You can send patient notes from within their Clinical page.

Purchasing HealthKit credits

Patient records sent through secure messaging are 3 HealthKit credits per message sent. One credit is $0.22AUD.

You can purchase HealthKit credits, when you send your message. Click the Buy Credits button. Enter the value of HealthKit credits that you would like to purchase and HealthKit tells you the number of credits that can be purchased for that credit amount (for example, $30 gets you 137 credits). Complete your payment details, and click the Add button to confirm purchase.

How to connect your ReferralNet account with your HealthKit

Connecting your HealthKit and ReferralNet account

You can sign up to ReferralNet and link your ReferralNet account to your HealthKit in the following way:

  1. Go to the Settings page under the Profile tab in your HealthKit;
  2. Click the Edit icon next to ReferralNet under Integrations;
  3. If you have an existing practice account, click Yes. Your Username and Password are automatically entered and click Save.
  4. If No, you can apply for account from here. Complete the following information: Primary Contact, Address, Discipline, Email (already entered) and Phone.
  5. Click Submit.

Approval may take a few days. When the account is enabled, the status changes from Waiting approval to Active. You will be notified when this happens. If you have any questions registering, call ReferralNet, on 1300 723 938

If you would like individual practitioners within your group to have their own account, you need to add each practitioner.

For new users:

  1. Click the Edit icon next to ReferralNet under Integrations;
  2. Under Existing Account, select Create New; and
  3. Click Save.

For existing users:

  1. Click the Edit icon next to ReferralNet under Integrations;
  2. Under Existing Account, select Yes;
  3. Enter your existing Username and Password and click Save.

Our HealthKit support will confirm with you once when they have configured your existing ReferralNet account with your HealthKit account.
